Practice Report (6/6): What we saw at OTA No. 9

DANIEL-JONES-BOBS

The Giants were on the field for their 9th OTA on Thursday.

* The offense was extremely sharp throughout practice and it started early in 7-on-7's with Daniel Jones at the helm. He completed five of six passes, four of which went for touchdowns, with the fifth caught by Wan'Dale Robinson just short of the goal line.

* Jones' first touchdown pass went to Jalin Hyatt after Jones rolled to his left to extend the play. Hyatt was covered initially but made a subtle move to create space late and come up with the touchdown catch. Jones' second touchdown went to Malik Nabers, who did a good job coming back to the ball on a pass over the middle.

* Hyatt caught his second touchdown of the period running across the field just in front of the back-line of the end zone. Jones started the play looking to his left. When he found no one open, he quickly got his head around to the opposite side of the field and found Hyatt on time with a pinpoint bullet for the touchdown.

* Jones' next completion came on a quick stop route to Wan'Dale Robinson over the middle just short of the goal line that might have gone for a touchdown if Robinson was able to turn up field after the catch. Jones' final completion of the period also went to Robinson, who made a slick second move after his initial route was covered to create separation and give Jones a window for his fourth touchdown.

* The first team offense in the team portion was also very sharp. Drew Lock completed nine of his first 10 passes, including two highlight touchdowns to Malik Nabers. Nabers' first catch was over the top down the left sideline, where he exhibited excellent body control to make the grab.

* The second touchdown pass was even more impressive. Off a play action pass, Lock moved to his left and with a flick of the wrist lofted a pass to the back of the end zone. Nabers was running along the back of the end zone and had to stretch out to come down with the acrobatic catch. Nabers got his feet down on both plays showing excellent awareness.

* Lock also found Isaiah Hodgins for a touchdown during red zone drills. He would also connect with Robinson at the goal line for a potential score.

* Tommy DeVito also threw a touchdown pass to Allen Robinson, while Nathan Rourke connected on a touchdown to Lawrence Cager and another to John Jiles.

* The defense made some plays towards the end of practice. Dane Belton and Jason Pinnock both knocked passes away. Jalen Mills got his hand on a pass, as well. Jordon Riley batted a ball down at the line of scrimmage.

* The defensive front did manage to make their way into the backfield throughout practice. Boogie Basham could have had two sacks, one of which might have been shared with D.J. Davidson. Azeez Ojulari forced the ball to come out quickly when he bolted into the backfield. Kayvon Thibodeaux impacted the quarterback's timing on a pair of plays. Dexter Lawrence also did a good job in the run game, getting in position for a potential tackle for loss on a run up the middle.
