If general managers could have one superpower, they would all choose foresight.
But in reality, they're stuck with hindsight, which we know is always 20-20.
This is why the sports world is full of hypotheticals, and the "what if" game is never more prevalent than it is regarding the draft. Former NFL player and scout Bucky Brooks, who is now an analyst for NFL Media, spun the clock back a year for his 2014 NFL Draft Do-Over.
In the Land of Make Believe, the Houston Texans would have drafted quarterback Teddy Bridgewater instead of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the first pick. That would have led to the St. Louis Rams selecting wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and not offensive tackle Greg Robinson at No. 2.
"I think [the Rams] find the most electric rookie in last year's class, Odell Beckham Jr.," Brooks said. "He comes in, he missed the first four games and has over 1,200 yards, earned a Pro Bowl nomination because he was spectacular on the edge -- fast, athletic, a playmaker with the ball in his hands. I think you bring him to St. Louis, you now can go back to being the Greatest Show on Turf in the Edward Jones Dome."
If the Rams had taken the future AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, then which player would the Giants have drafted at No. 12 last year?
Brooks said it would have played out for them to take offensive tackle Jake Matthews, whom the Atlanta Falcons drafted sixth in reality.
"Injuries prematurely ended Matthews' rookie campaign," Brooks said. "But the ex-Aggie would've upgraded the Giants' offensive line as a standout edge blocker."
