The first 30 slots in the 2025 NFL Draft order have been set following the regular season and conference championship games. The New York Giants hold the third overall selection. The last time they used that pick was on two-time Super Bowl champion linebacker Carl Banks out of Michigan State in 1984.

Meanwhile, the East-West Shrine Bowl (Jan. 30) and Senior Bowl (Feb. 1) are getting underway, and the Giants have coaches on staff at both all-star games. That's where some of the top prospects will get a chance to showcase their skills on the field and in meetings with clubs before the ultimate job interview known as the NFL Scouting Combine (Feb. 24 – March 3).

Analysis: "The Giants are desperate for a quarterback. Ward's strong arm and playmaking ability would be a great fit."

Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN

Pick: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Analysis: "Sanders is super accurate, completing 74% of his throws this season. He could step in right away and lift the entire offense, including standout 2024 first-rounder Malik Nabers."

Dane Brugler, The Athletic

Pick: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

Analysis: "If the Giants are unable to move up for Ward, would they like Shedeur Sanders enough to draft him at No. 3? In this scenario, they don't and instead opt for arguably the best player in the draft. Hunter would give New York an upgrade at corner — and he'd be a fun weapon for Brian Daboll to mix into the offense for the Giants' TBD quarterback."

Pick: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

Analysis: "Hunter is capable of making impact plays on both sides of the ball, as he caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense while picking off four passes on defense. Hunter could give the Giants another receiving threat opposite Malik Nabers or help at corner ... or maybe both."

Danny Kelly, The Ringer

Pick: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Analysis: "The Giants get their guy. Ward is a dynamic playmaker with a quick release, a penchant for the big play (with 28 big-time throws in 2024, per PFF, tied for fifth most in the country), and some out-of-structure playmaking talent. Ward is a five-year starter who should start right away for the G-Men, and his development will surely get a boost from throwing to ultra-talented pass catcher Malik Nabers."

Analysis: "I'm still torn between Ward and Sanders for QB1, and there are days it feels like Sanders is more ready right now to lead a successful offense. But, long-term, Ward — who improved every day of his lengthy college career — could have the higher ceiling."

Analysis: "Sanders in New York feels like a match made in media heaven. Physically, Ward might have more tools (which is why I've got him slightly higher here), but don't be shocked if Sanders — who, unlike Ward, had to get used to playing with so-so talent in college — is more ready to start than some believe."

Pick: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Analysis: "Truth be told, I am not at all convinced a quarterback will be drafted in the top five this year. But until free agency proves otherwise, the Giants are so desperate for a quarterback that it would feel disingenuous not to award them one here. Sanders recorded an 83.0 PFF passing grade in all four college seasons he played in. Over the past two years, he was excellent at post-snap reads and taking care of the football. Sanders doesn't have the strongest arm, but he plays a clean brand of quarterback — which some teams will gravitate toward."

Pick: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

Analysis: "Travis Hunter is the best athlete -- and the best player -- in this draft class. We've had otherworldly cornerbacks and wide receivers in previous classes, but he's a twofer, able to dominate on both sides of the ball and take over games. The big question: where will the team that drafts him want him to play? And if it's, say, at cornerback, how big will be the package of offensive plays for Hunter? Because lining up for 120 snaps a game, like he's done for the Buffs, isn't sustainable in the NFL."

Analysis: "Ward isn't as polished as his Heisman highlights suggest but his quick release and flair for the dramatic could be big hits on Broadway."

Pick: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Analysis: "Ward has the best tools of the top-tier quarterbacks."

Nate Tice, Yahoo Sports

Pick: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

Analysis: "After seeing QBs get picked off in front of them, the Giants instead veer toward star power. Hunter is an excellent athlete and has a rare feel for the cornerback position. With Malik Nabers already showing off his star potential at receiver, there's no need to overwhelm Hunter as a two-way player right away."

Pick: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

Analysis: "The Giants could use both a wide receiver and a corner, so why not take the most uniquely qualified prospect in NFL history to play both. Travis Hunter's tape comes with a constant asterisk that he hasn't come off the field the entire game, and it's scary to think how he'll perform with some rest."

Analysis: "Unless Penn State's Drew Allar ends up declaring, Ward and Sanders are the only two quarterbacks I see going in the first round."

Analysis: "It doesn't matter which side of the ball he plays, but pairing him with Malik Nabers sounds like a good start."

It's difficult to envision New York going in a different positional direction."
