For Giants fans, Opening Day in Major League Baseball is just another day closer to the return of football In 23 weeks, it will be your time. Instead of first pitches, you'll have opening kickoffs.

But to hold you over for now, Giants.com looked at the most memorable season openers in franchise history as the baseball season gets underway:

Sept. 21, 1969: Trailing 23-10, Fran Tarkenton threw two touchdown passes to Don Herrmann in the final five minutes - the last with 59 seconds left - to give the Giants a 24-23 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Yankee Stadium.

Sept. 11, 1989: Raul Allegre kicked a 52-yard field goal as time expired to give the Giants a 27-24 victory over the Redskins in RFK Stadium.

Sept. 9, 1990: After sitting out all of training camp, Lawrence Taylor reported four days before the opener and sacked Randall Cunningham three times in a 27-20 victory over Philadelphia.

Sept. 5, 1993:**
In Dan Reeves' first game as head coach, Phil Simms threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jarrod Bunch with 1:07 left to give the Giants a 26-20 victory over the Chicago Bears in Soldier Field. On the Bears' next snap. Lawrence Taylor sacked Jim Harbaugh and forced a fumble that L.T. recovered to clinch the victory.

Sept. 11, 2005: The Giants trailed Arizona at halftime, 13-7, before outscoring the Cardinals in the second half, 35-6, for a 42-19 victory. 6) Sept. 12, 2010: After 34 seasons in Giants Stadium, Big Blue moved into MetLife Stadium, a new, state-of-the-art venue built just a few yards from the old home. In the first game there, Eli Manning threw three touchdowns en route to a 31-18 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
