With the 173rd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected North Carolina offensive lineman Marcus McKethan.

McKethan (pronounced muh-KEE-thuhn) moved from South Carolina to North Carolina for college, racking up 543 knockdown blocks his senior year at Barnwell High School. He played in five games as a reserve his redshirt freshman season, and then became the starter at right guard for 12 of 13 appearances as a sophomore. McKethan earned honorable mention All-ACC notice in 2020 after starting all 12 games at right guard and repeated that honor in 2021 for his play in all 13 games at right guard.

Started all 12 games at right guard • All-ACC Honorable Mention selection • Blocked for an offense that averaged 41.7 points per game (9th NCAA/2nd ACC), a school record 537.3 total yards per game (5th NCAA/1st ACC), including 301.4 passing yards per game (18th NCAA/2nd ACC) and 235.8 rushing yards per game (11th NCAA/2nd ACC) • Played a team-leading 887 snaps, including a season-high 93 against Wake Forest and 92 at Florida State.
2019 – Sophomore Season
Appeared in 13 games and made 12 starts at right guard • Blocked for an offense that averaged 474.0 yards per game (12th NCAA/2nd ACC), including 285.8 passing yards per game (3rd ACC) and 188.2 rushing yards per game (4th ACC) • Allowed just two sacks in 818 snaps • Posted 24 knockdowns in the first 10 games • Graded out at 81 or better in three games • Had four knockdowns and a grade of 75 against Appalachian State • Recorded a season-high grade of 83 with three knockdowns against Clemson • Posted a grade of 75 with two knockdowns at Virginia Tech • Had three knockdowns and a grade of 76 versus Duke • Matched his season-high grade of 83 against Virginia with two knockdowns • Tallied four knockdowns and a grade of 81 at Pittsburgh.
2018 – Redshirt Freshman Season
Appeared in five games along the offensive line and on special teams • Blocked for an offense that averaged 442.1 yards per game (31st NCAA), including 193.0 rushing yards per contest • Led an offensive line that allowed just 0.91 sacks per game (10 sacks/7th NCAA/2nd ACC) • Posted an 85 with a knockdown at Duke • Redshirted in 2017.

Considered the No. 2 offensive tackle in South Carolina, No. 37 in the South and No. 120 in the country by Scout.com • Ranked the No. 13 player in South Carolina and the No. 36 offensive guard in the country by 247sports.com • Listed as the No. 17 player in South Carolina and the No. 73 offensive tackle in the nation by ESPN.com • Represented South Carolina in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, an annual all-star game between talented prospects from the two border states • Also played in Border Bowl IV, a postseason all-star game between South Carolina and Georgia prospects • Named to The All-Aiken Standard Football team • Did not allow a sack during his senior season and finished the year with 543 knockdown blocks • Coached by Randy Long, who also coached UNC offensive lineman Bentley Spain at Providence High School in Charlotte • Also played on the Barnwell basketball team and competed in the discus for the track and field team • State champion in the discus as a junior • Coached by Dwayne Garrick.
