"He's just in the protocol, and he's just working through that phasing of it," Kafka said of Dart. "So, based on the testing and the results, we're declaring him out for this week."

12:30 p.m. -- QB Jaxson Dart has progressed to the next step in the concussion protocol and will return to practice as a non-contact participant, interim head coach Mike Kafka announced before Wednesday's session at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Kafka also said that RB Eric Gray, who has been on the physically unable to perform list all season, has been designated for return.
Three days after being signed off Pittsburgh's practice squad, WR Isaiah Hodgins led the Giants with five catches for 57 yards against the Packers, including two fourth-down conversions. Kafka spoke Wednesday about how difficult that was to do, even though he had previous experience with the Giants.
"I have a lot of familiarity with Isaiah," Kafka said. "He's been in multiple training camps. He came in our first year and had a great year in terms of just jumping into the role from a familiarity standpoint. I'm just really proud of how he stepped up again for us. Again, even a shorter turnaround, came in on a Thursday, off the plane, onto a practice, absorbed the installation in the third-down day with a bunch of passes. We're moving people around, we're going no huddle tempo on the football. It was just really impressive to see him go out there and execute. Then as (wide receivers coach Mike) Coach Groh was meeting with him, as (offensive assistant/minority coaching fellow) Troy Brown was meeting with him throughout the week, then getting to the gameday and watching him just go execute and play and have fun and really play without any kind of indecision, it was really cool to see and really impressive for Isaiah."
Monday, Nov. 17
10 a.m. -- Interim head coach Mike Kafka gave the latest update on QB Jaxson Dart, who is still in the concussion protocol. "I'm just going to see that through, talk with the medical, and when they give us the thumbs up, then we'll take the next action," Kafka said.
The first injury report will be released following Wednesday's practice as the Giants gear up for a trip to Detroit. In one of his tweaks to the schedule, Kafka has moved the players' day off from Tuesday to Monday.
"I think it gives the coaches a little bit of front-end time in terms of getting prepped," Kafka said. "Then they see them tomorrow. It kind of takes the emotion out of the game, allows guys to kind of evaluate it and see it with clear eyes, and allows the coaches to do the same. Then it gives us an opportunity to then flip the page and move on to the next opponent. Just a little bit different routine, different schedule that I've had in the past. I just thought it was a good fit."
The Giants are celebrating "My Cause My Cleats" during Weeks 12 and 13. Players and staff members will wear custom-designed cleats or sneakers to bring attention to various causes and non-profit organizations that they support. Thanks to The Giants Foundation and Novartis, fans can vote for their favorite player designs. The organizations of the top three vote-getters will receive a contribution to continue their work in the community.
Sunday, Nov. 16
11:32 p.m. -- The Lions fell to the Eagles 16-9 on Sunday Night Football in Philadelphia. Detroit's nine points were a season low and the team's fewest in a game since 2023. The Lions (6-4, 3-1 home) have alternated wins and losses since their 4-1 start to the season. The Giants have lost their last three meetings (2017, 2019, 2022) with the Lions, their most recent win occurring in 2016 at MetLife Stadium. The Giants have not won at Ford Field since a 23-20 overtime victory in 2013.
4:05 p.m. -- The Giants fell to the Packers 27-20 in their first game under interim head coach Mike Kafka. The Giants, who relieved Brian Daboll of his duties last Monday, lost their fifth consecutive game to fall to 2-9 on the season. QB Jameis Winston made his Giants debut with Jaxson Dart in the concussion protocol. Russell Wilson served as the backup.
OLB Brian Burns added two sacks and now has a career-high 13.0 with six games remaining. He entered Week 11 tied with Myles Garrett for the NFL lead, but Cleveland's All-Pro defensive end notched four on Sunday vs. Baltimore. Burns is still on pace for just the third 20-sack season in Giants history.
