The Giants, who are now 20-9 in pre-bye games, go on their break in Week 8. They return the following Sunday to host the Los Angeles Rams before flying to San Francisco in Week 10.
WHAT WE LEARNED ON OFFENSE
*With center Weston Richburg missing another game due to a concussion, the Giants rolled out the same starting offensive line as they did last week in Denver. From left to right, that consisted of Ereck Flowers, John Jerry, Brett Jones, D.J. Fluker, and Justin Pugh. However, Pugh went down with a back injury in the second half, and Bobby Hart came off the bench to replace him at right tackle.
*Because of their depleted receiving corps, the Giants again utilized some heavy personnel and opened the game with three tight ends on the field. Evan Engram, who led NFL rookie tight ends in most categories entering Week 6, had a team-high 12 targets, resulting in six catches for 60 yards, including a five-yard touchdown from Eli Manning for the first points of the game. He also had a long of 25 yards.
*Manning, who went 19 of 39 for 134 yards and a touchdown, completed just five passes to wide receivers. He wasn't sacked until 9:49 left in the fourth quarter, but it proved to be a costly one. Manning lost the ball on the play, and the Seahawks took over the Giants 38. They scored a touchdown shortly after to take a two-possession lead.
*After racking up 300 yards rushing and averaging 5.26 yards per carry in the previous two weeks, the Giants mustered just 46 yards on 17 carries (2.7-yard average) vs. Seattle.
*The Giants were outgained 222-42 in yards in the first half but nevertheless led 7-3 going into the locker room.
WHAT WE LEARNED ON DEFENSE
*A week after allowing 412 yards but just 10 points to the Broncos, the Giants gave up 425 and 24 to the Seahawks on Sunday.
*Fourth-year safety Nat Berhe recorded his first career sack, taking down a scrambling Russell Wilson on third down on the opening drive of the game.
*The Giants have one of the best goal-line defenses in the NFL, and they showed it off on a long series that spanned the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second. While giving Seattle two fresh sets of downs due to roughing the passer (Keenan Robinson) and passing interference (B.J. Goodson) penalties, the Giants kept the Seahawks out of the end zone on 10 consecutive plays inside the 10-yard line, capped off by cornerback Eli Apple knocking the ball away from tight end Jimmy Graham on fourth down to save a touchdown.
*After grabbing his first interception of the season last week in Denver and returning it 21 yards, safety Landon Collins scooped up a fumble forced by rookie defensive end Avery Moss and brought it 32 yards down the Seahawks 17 early in the second quarter. Two plays later, Manning and Engram hooked up for a touchdown.
*The Seahawks broke the game open with 9:34 to play on Wilson's 38-yard touchdown pass to Paul Richardson. The play was reviewed after there was some uncertainty as to whether Collins won the jump ball in the end zone, but the tie went to the receiver.
WHAT WE LEARNED ON SPECIAL TEAMS
*After recording just one punt inside the 20 in the first four weeks, Brad Wing has seven in the last three games, including one on Sunday vs. Seattle. However, early in the third quarter, Wing had a punt deflected that gave the ball to Seattle at midfield.
*Aldrick Rosas missed a 47-yard field goal attempt wide right that would have tied the game 10-10 with 14:18 left in the fourth quarter. That was his third unsuccessful attempt of the season on 10 opportunities.
