Giants.com brings you an instant postgame recap of Sunday's Wild Card game vs. the Packers:
AT A GLANCE
In their 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl runs, the New York Giants became the only visiting team in NFL history to win consecutive postseason games at Lambeau Field.
The streak would end there. After the Giants built an early lead in the NFC Wild Card Game, the momentum swung to the Green Bay Packers' sideline with a Hail Mary touchdown before halftime and never went back as Big Blue fell, 38-13.
UP NEXT
Ben McAdoo's first season as head coach comes to an end after an 11-5 regular season and the organization's first postseason appearance since winning Super Bowl XLVI. McAdoo joined Dan Reeves as the only Giants coaches to win 11 games in their debut seasons with the team.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE
QB Eli Manning entered Sunday with an NFL record five-game road winning streak in the postseason, and that also came to an end. The two-time Super Bowl MVP completed 23 of 44 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown with a lost fumble and a late interception…In his postseason debut, WR Odell Beckham Jr. had four receptions for 28 yards on 11 targets…Rookie RB Paul Perkins, who recorded his first 100-yard game in the regular season finale, once again took the bulk of the carries and had 30 yards on 10 attempts. The Giants rushed for 70 yards as a team after having only 43 in their Week 5 meeting…TE Will Tye added a 51-yard catch-and-run to set up the Giants' second field goal…WR Tavarres King was a secret weapon once again, catching a 41-yard touchdown with 5:23 left in the third quarter. In their Week 17 win at Washington, King hauled in a 44-yard pass to set up the go-ahead field goal after having just one reception for 6 yards in the first 15 games…The Giants were just 5-for-16 on third down and lost the time of possession 34:31-25:29.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE
B Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who picked up second-team All-Pro honors this past week, left in the first quarter with a bruised thigh…The Packers averaged 31 points during their six-game winning streak to end the regular season, but the Giants kept them off the scoreboard until 2:20 to play in the second quarter when QB Aaron Rodgers threw a 5-yard touchdown to WR Davante Adams…Just like the Giants did to them in their 2011 postseason meeting, the Packers scored on a Hail Mary on the final play of the first half. This time, Rodgers lobbed a 42-yard pass to WR Randall Cobb in the back of the end zone for a score and a 14-6 lead…CB Coty Sensabaugh recorded the first of five sacks on Rodgers. DE Kerry Wynn, DE Romeo Okwara, All-Pro S Landon Collins, and DT Johnathan Hankins also got him…The Giants made a key fourth-down stop in Packers territory with 6:01 left in the third quarter, leading to King's touchdown that cut the deficit to 14-13…However, the Packers scored 24 unanswered points from there as Rodgers finished with four touchdowns, three of which went to Cobb…The Giants, who allowed a league-low 25 offensive touchdowns this season, had not given up more than 29 points all year.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE SPECIAL TEAMS
K Robbie Gould made both of his field goal attempts, including a long of 40 yards… P Brad Wing had two punts downed inside the 20, including one at the 6 early in the game…Other than that, the Giants had a series of miscues in the third phase of the game. They allowed two kickoff returns of more than 30 yards and a punt return of 23 yards. Bobby Rainey also caught a kickoff that was heading toward the sideline at the Giants 3, and his momentum carried him out of bounds.
