Giants.com brings you an instant postgame recap of Sunday's game:

AT A GLANCE

The New York Giants gave up a season-high 474 yards in a 31-21 loss to the previously winless San Francisco 49ers, leaving the Cleveland Browns as the last team in the NFL without a win. Big Blue flies home from its first trip to Levi's Stadium with a 1-8 record.

The Giants return to MetLife Stadium to host the idle Kansas City Chiefs, who dropped to 6-3 on the season with a loss to the Dallas Cowboys before their bye week. It will be the Giants' lone home game in a four-week span. After facing Kansas City, they play at Washington on Thanksgiving Day and at Oakland the following week.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON OFFENSE

*Justin Pugh returned from a one-game absence due to a back injury. He played at right tackle, taking the place of Bobby Hart. John Jerry (left) and D.J. Fluker (right) were the starting guards while Brett Jones continued to play center in place of Weston Richburg, who is on injured reserve. However, Pugh left at the start of the second half with the back issue, and Hart took over for him.

*Eli Manning started his 208th consecutive regular-season game, tying his brother Peyton for the second-longest consecutive starts streak in NFL history. Peyton, who started 208 straight games for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-2010, came to see it happen in person. The two met on the field during early warmups.

*On a nine-yard pass from Manning with 2:08 left in the first half, first-round draft choice Evan Engram tied Bob Tucker (five in 1970) for the most touchdowns by a rookie tight end in franchise history. Engram has found the end zone in four consecutive games.

*The Giants have rushed for more than 110 yards in four of their last five games. Orleans Darkwa, who entered fifth in the league in rushing average, accounted for 70 of those yards on 14 carries (5.0 average).

*Wide receiver Sterling Shepard led all players with 11 receptions for 142 yards, both career highs.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON DEFENSE

*A week after allowing six plays of 35-plus yards, the Giants gave up a 28-yard run on the first snap of the game. It didn't get any better as the 49ers later scored on an 83-yard touchdown pass from rookie C.J. Beathard to Marquise Goodwin. Beathard had another touchdown of 47 yards to tight end Garrett Celek right before halftime and had a 40-yard completion to Louis Murphy after the break. Matt Breida eventually put the game away with a 33-yard touchdown run that extended the 49ers' lead to 31-13 with 9:19 remaining in the game.

*The Giants, who failed to register a takeaway last week, got their first with 11:37 left in the second quarter. Safety Andrew Adams knocked the ball away from Kyle Juszczyk, and linebacker Curtis Grant recovered. However, Manning was sacked and lost a fumble on the Giants' ensuing possession.

*Playing in his first game since suffering an ankle injury in Week 4, defensive end Olivier Vernon grabbed his first career interception midway through the third quarter. The six-year veteran finished with four tackles and a quarterback hit. However, the Giants failed to record a sack for the second game in a row.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON SPECIAL TEAMS

*Kicker Aldrick Rosas, who was 8-for-12 heading into Week 10, missed a 34-yarder wide right midway through the third quarter. He has now missed a field goal attempt in four consecutive games and five of the last six (he did not have an attempt in Week 5). The miss came after Rosas had made from 47 and 42 yards in the first quarter.
