Giants can't capture 'road warriors' spirit

When talking Giants lore, it doesn't take long before the road warrior mentality comes up in the success of the franchise.

The 2012 season, however, has been a different story.

Including their latest 33-14 loss in Baltimore, the Giants have dropped the last four road tests, which is their worst regular-season stretch since losing the same amount in 2004. The Giants had won five of their last six before falling in Cincinnati, Washington, Atlanta and now Baltimore this season.

"For as long as I've been here, we seem to always rise up on road games," said guard Kevin Boothe, who joined the Giants in 2007. "And we just haven't been able to do that this year. It's been unfortunate because we have a lot of talent on this team. I'm almost speechless I guess because it's so new, but it's something that we're going to have to regroup and reclaim that road warrior mentality."

It will have to wait until next year or the postseason, should the Giants make it. They wrap against the Philadelphia Eagles in MetLife Stadium and will need help to make it past the regular season.

In the four straight losses away from their home stadium, the Giants have been outscored by a combined 115-43, the bulk of which came the last two weeks.

"Guys are trying hard, just not executing at a high enough level," Boothe said. "For whatever reason it is, we're just not playing very good football, and when you play a good team, bad things will happen to you. And that's what's happened to us the last two weeks.

Boothe added: "We're well-prepared for games. We had great practices, but obviously it hasn't translated over to Sundays. So it boils down to execution, and we're not executing at a high enough level obviously."
