Experts grade Giants selection of DB Mykkele Thompson

Read rapid reactions on the Giants drafting Texas defensive back Mykkele Thompson with the eighth pick of the fifth round (144th overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft.

"Needed to add safeties to the roster and with Landon Collins are accomplishing that. Thompson has good size -- 6-foot-1, 200 pounds -- with impressive athleticism but limited experience."

"Thompson plays with more range than his measurables suggest. He's not flashy, but the Giants can utilize him in nickel/dime alignments as a depth DB."

"Thompson has adequate size and good versatility to line up at the last line of defense, and has experience dropping into the slot at the nickelback position. He is very effective in run support, but lacks ideal instincts in coverage at this point and didn't have great production throughout his career."
