Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning will break new ground on May 5 when he hosts Saturday Night Live for the first time.
"I'm looking forward to it," he said. "It's something that's been offered a few times and I've turned it down. But it seemed like the right time. I felt ready to do it and I'm excited about that opportunity."
Manning has virtually no stage experience – he was never even in a school play.
"Not much Broadway or acting, so this will be a new experience for me," he said. "I'm a little nervous about it, but excited also. It should be a lot of fun. It will take some work, but it should be something I'll always remember."
*More than 30 members of the professional sports world have taken the stage at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, including football players Fran Tarkenton (1977), Joe Montana (1987), Walter Payton (1987), Tom Brady (2004), and who can forget his brother, Peyton.
Peyton, fresh off his own Super Bowl victory at the time, hosted on his own birthday (March 24) in 2007 and delivered some memorable moments, while Eli and the rest of the Manning family made a brief cameo.
