Eli Manning delivered on Sunday night.
While setting a franchise record with 41 completions for 441 yards, the third-highest total of his career, and three touchdowns, the quarterback rallied the Giants in a thrilling 30-27 victory over the 49ers. The go-ahead touchdown pass to tight end Larry Donnell with 21 seconds remaining marked the 32nd time that Manning has brought his team back from a fourth-quarter deficit or tie to win a game, postseason included.
For his effort, Manning has been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week, the NFL announced today.
"It was one of those days where you just felt good throwing it," Manning said following the Giants' third consecutive victory that moved them into first place in the NFC East. "Things were happening well, we were seeing things, we were picking things up and Coach [offensive coordinator Ben] McAdoo called a great game -- it was aggressive, we were going after it, we were pushing the ball down the field, we were getting completions and the offensive line did a great job protecting."
Fans can vote for Manning at NFL.com/FedEx until Thursday at 3 p.m. ET. When the winner is announced, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in the player's name to the American Red Cross.
