Why did The Giants part ways with Lawrence Tynes? Tynes has proved that he can make clutch kicks, so what were the reasons to go with Josh Brown instead of Tynes?-Pierre
Tynes had six outstanding seasons with the Giants (well, five and the 2008 season, when he suffered an injury in training camp and watched John Carney do most of the kicking). The Giants did a thorough statistical analysis of kickers following the 2012 season and simply decided to go forward with Brown rather than Tynes. Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin aren't going to reveal details of their reasoning. But they made the decision after much study and discussion. And Brown does have an excellent track record, particularly from long distances.
Fact or fiction: Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, and Jason Pierre-Paul will all be on the roster at the start of the 2015 season.-Joe
We haven't reported to training camp in 2013 and you're already asking me about 2015? If I could see that clearly into the future, I wouldn't be sitting at this desk. But you asked, so I will say yes. Obviously, those are three of the Giants' very best players. All three are still young. Barring an injury or other unforeseen calamity, I believe the Giants will have all three under contract two years from now. UPDATE: Victor Cruz signs contract extension
Is there any Chad Jones update?-James
Chad Jones recently announced his retirement from football. He was never able to make it back to the field after suffering serious injuries in an auto accident soon after he was drafted. Jones was recently drafted by the Cincinatti Reds and will continue his professional career with baseball. He also excelled at that sport at during his college days at LSU.
