Eisen's Mailbag: Competition at DT

Today's edition of The Mailbag on Gaints.com:

A question from a Big Blue fan from Denmark in Europe: The Giants have seven DT (Marvin Austin, Johnathan Hankins, Cullen Jenkins, Linval Joseph, Markus Kuhn, Mike Patterson and Shaun Rogers) who can start in Week 1. Rogers and Patterson are old, Austin hasn't performed in two years and Kuhn is a seventh rounder who just finished his rookie season. Which two players would start in Week 1, and who would be cut or placed on the practice squad?

*First, having all those defensive tackles is a good thing. It's a physically-demanding position where four players often get playing time during the course of a game. And that's after a training camp competition that will be fun to watch. Rogers and Patterson have a lot of experience, but that doesn't mean they can no longer play (by the way, Jenkins is almost three years older than Patterson). I'm not about to predict who will get cut. But I hope everyone stays healthy and will look forward to seeing who emerges as the starters.
