After Super Bowl XLII in 2008, the Giants got off to a great start the next season and then we all know what happened then (the Plaxico Burress incident). Do you think we can come out and play this coming season with the same confidence and cohesion that we had at the end of last season? Much like we did in 2008 before the proverbial "Monkey wrench" was thrown into the mix.
*Dear Charles: *
*I expect nothing less. The Giants are a team that not only has upstanding talent, but exceptional veteran leadership. Players like Eli Manning, Justin Tuck, Chris Snee, Antrel Rolle, David Diehl – I could go on – have moved on from Super Bowl XLVI and are firmly focused on succeeding in 2012. There will be no complacency, no letting up, no cutting corners. The Giants are a team that carries the confidence borne from their success, but one that is as driven and competitive as it was last season. There will be no letdown.
*Will Prince Amukamara start this year and who will be the new deep receiver seeing we lost Mario Manningham?
*Dear Nicholas: *
Prince Amukamara very much wants to start, but he faces a significant challenge to become one of the team's top two cornerbacks – he must outperform Corey Webster or Terrell Thomas. I can't say with confidence that I would expect that to happen. But if it doesn't Amukamara should get frequent playing time in the sub defenses.
*Plenty of candidates will compete for the third receiver spot. Veterans Jerrel Jernigan, Domenik Hixon and Ramses Barden are in the mix. And Rueben Randle, the second-round draft choice, will get a serious look from the coaches. It should be quite a competition.
