The Giants announced today they re-signed Bernard, who was released last Friday after two seasons with the team.
The team also waived/injured rookie defensive tackle Martin Parker of Richmond.
Bernard played for the Giants in 2009 and 2010 after signing as a free agent following seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
In those two years, Bernard played as a reserve in 29 games. He had 61 tackles (39 solo) and 3.0 sacks. In 2010, Bernard played in 14 games and contributed 26 tackles (18 solo) and 2.0 sacks (at Minnesota and vs. Philadelphia).
Bernard joins Chris Canty, Linval Joseph, veteran newcomer Gabe Watson, second-round draft choice Marvin Austin and young free agents Dwayne Hendricks and Ibraham Abdulai on the interior of the Giants' defensive line.
