MichaelEvery year people talk about how the team drafted and how well the rookies will help out this year. My question is actually for the undrafted rookies the Giants signed. Which one do feel will have the biggest impact on the giants this year if any?Dear Amy:
To be honest, few of the rookie free agents have made a big impact in this camp. Henry Hynoski, the fullback from Pitt, has impressed at times but needs to improve his blocking. Mark Herzlich, the linebacker from BostonCollege, has made some plays, but he also has a long way to go.
Michael:On some NFL rankings they have Terrell Thomas as the fifteenth best corner in the league, while Corey Webster is rated as the thirtieth best corner. Last season all I saw was Terrell Thomas getting beat deep by receivers, while Corey Webster was one the few bright spots for the Giants last season. My question is, is Corey Webster a better corner than Terrell Thomas?Dear Anthony:
Not if you go by the numbers. This is in no way an attempt to put down Corey Webster, but instead to give Terrell Thomas his due. Thomas has led the Giants in tackles, interceptions and passes defensed in each of the last two seasons. He had more than 100 tackles in both 2009 and 2010. Thomas deserves to be in the discussion of the NFL's top corners. No less an authority than Justin Tuck said Thomas is going to the Pro Bowl this season. Having said all that, Webster is also a heck of a corner.
Michael:What were the reasons to release Shaun O'Hara and Rich Seibert?Dear Brian:
Physical condition (each had offseason surgery and Seubert had yet to run), salary cap concerns and a desire to bring youth and new blood to the offensive line. Plus, the opportunity to sign David Baas, who is an exceptional center.
