Quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been designated for return to practice.

Taylor was placed on injured reserve after suffering a rib cage injury in the Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets.

The veteran quarterback had started the previous two games with Daniel Jones sidelined due to a neck injury. In those two contests against the Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills, Taylor threw for 479 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 49 yards on the ground. He finished with a 116.9 passer rating against the Commanders in Week 7.

With both Taylor and Jones on injured reserve, undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito has started at quarterback over the last three games, throwing six touchdowns with just one interception while leading the Giants to a 2-1 record.

Prior to the bye, coach Brian Daboll said the coaching staff was going to take the week off to discuss the quarterback situation moving forward.

"We're just getting started here, we're just finishing up," Daboll said last Monday. "Still got a little bit to go, finishing up with the coaches on this game and will work as a coaching staff and discuss a lot of things, look at a lot of things and try to fix some things. That'll be something, obviously, we talk about as well."

The Giants next play Monday, December 11 at MetLife Stadium against the Green Bay Packers.
