AT A GLANCE
Propelled by two takeaways in the opening minutes of the game, the New York Giants grabbed an early lead on the Philadelphia Eagles and never let go en route to a 28-23 victory. The win broke a four-game losing streak to the Eagles (4-4), who had not lost to the Giants (5-3) at MetLife Stadium since the final week of the 2012 season.
UP NEXT
In the second leg of a three-game homestand, the Giants host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4-1) on Monday night at MetLife Stadium. Cincinnati sat idle in Week 9 following a 27-27 tie with the Washington Redskins in London. Giants legends Tom Coughlin, Ernie Accorsi, and Justin Tuck will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor during halftime of the primetime matchup.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE
After a quick three-and-out to start the game, Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. connected on a 26-yard touchdown on the team's second drive thanks to good field position created by an Eagles turnover … Following a second takeaway in as many possessions, Manning then hit undrafted rookie WR Roger Lewis for a 30-yard touchdown to give the Giants a 14-0 lead with just 5:17 off the clock … Manning went on to complete 22 of 36 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. The second turnover came in Giants territory with 1:48 left in the game and a five-point lead … LG Justin Pugh left in the second quarter with a sprained knee and was replaced by Brett Jones … WR Victor Cruz had a 46-yard reception midway through the second quarter that set up Beckham's second touchdown from Manning … Beckham had the eighth multi-score game of his career, finishing with four receptions for 46 yards and two touchdowns … Rookie WR Sterling Shepard led the team with 50 yards on three catches, including a long of 32 yards … The Giants' rushing woes continued with just 11 yards on nine carries in the first half. They finished with 54 yards on 24 attempts as Rashad Jennings and rookie Paul Perkins each rushed 11 times (Manning had two kneel-downs).
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE
S Landon Collins picked up where he left off in London and intercepted rookie QB Carson Wentz on the Eagles' first possession, which the Giants turned into a touchdown on the ensuing possession. Before the bye week, the second-year pro was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, in a victory over the Rams … Andrew Adams, an undrafted rookie playing opposite Collins with Darian Thompson out, grabbed another interception on the next defensive series. Adams also prevented a touchdown late in the first quarter by deflecting a pass intended for Jordan Matthews in the end zone … The Giants now have six interceptions in their last two games after recording just two in the first six weeks … Big Blue stopped Philadelphia three times on fourth down, including forcing an incompletion with 1:23 left to seal the victory.
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE SPECIAL TEAMS
DE Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a 40-yard field goal attempt by Caleb Sturgis late in the first half and CB Janoris Jenkins recovered … Veteran K Robbie Gould, playing in his second game as a Giant, made four extra point attempts … Philadelphia's Darren Sproles, who has seven punt return touchdowns in his career, had a 66-yarder late in the first half.
