EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – On Sunday, the Giants began their first stretch of three home games in three weeks since they had one in a similar time frame in 2013.

The Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-23. The homestand will continue on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals and conclude on Nov. 20 vs. the Chicago Bears.
Although it would seem a team playing three consecutive weeks without traveling would be in an optimal situation, history demonstrates that few teams can take full advantage of the situation.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, 126 teams have played three successive home games, uninterrupted by a bye, since 1990. Two teams played four straight games at home. To compile the statistics below, Elias counted them as two 3-game streaks.
Here's how those teams fared while enjoying their extended stays at home:

Surprisingly, it's easier to win all three than lose all three. But the most likely scenario is that teams will lose one or two games, a trend the hope Giants to avoid.
The following is the record of those teams in the individual games during the homestand:

Third game, 69-57 (.548)
More teams have success in the first game than in the second and third. The Giants won their first game. Their challenge is to keep it going through the next two.
• The Giants' five victories this season have been by a total of 20 points. The last time five consecutive Giants wins were decided by a combined 20 or fewer points in a single season was in 2011 (17 points).
• Eli Manning threw touchdown passes of 26 yards and one yard to Odell Beckham, Jr., 30 yards to Roger Lewis, Jr., and 32 yards to Sterling Shepard against the Eagles. It was the second time in his career he threw three scoring passes of 25 or more yards in a game. On Sept. 25, 2011 in Philadelphia, he threw touchdown passes of 40 yards to Brandon Jacobs and 74 and 28 yards to Victor Cruz. New Orleans' Drew Brees is the leader in such games with five.
• In the last 25 years, a quarterback has thrown three touchdown passes of 25 or more yards in a game vs. the Eagles three times: Eli Manning in 2011 and on Sunday, and Peyton Manning on Nov. 10, 2002.
• Manning has thrown at least four touchdown passes in a game 14 times. That is the fourth-highest total among active quarterbacks, behind Brees (29), Tom Brady (25) and Aaron Rodgers (18). The NFL record is 35 by Peyton Manning.
• Manning's 14 games with four or more touchdown passes are twice as many as any other quarterback in Giants history. Hall of Famer Y.A. Tittle had seven such games.
• Carson Wentz was the 85th different starting quarterback Manning has faced in his 13 seasons. Philly's Doug Pederson was the 72nd different head coach.
• Beckham's two touchdowns increased his career total to 30. He is the sixth player in NFL history to record at least 30 touchdown catches in his first 35 career games, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Lance Alworth and Bob Hayes, as well as Cloyce Box, Bill Groman and Harlon Hill.
• Since his 2014 rookie season, Beckham's 30 touchdowns are second in the NFL, behind Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown, who has 31. Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray is third with 29
• In his first 35 career games, Beckham has 17 100-yard receiving games. Only Brown (19) has more 100-yard games in that time span.
• The last six times a Giants player has scored two or more touchdowns in a game, that player was Beckham. Included in that total are a pair of three-touchdown games.
• When Shepard and Lewis scored, it was the first time the Giants had two rookie wide receivers with touchdown catches in the same game since Oct. 5, 1987 when Lewis Bennett and Reggie McGowan accomplished the feat in a strike replacement game vs. San Francisco. Excluding replacement games, it had last happened on Dec. 12, 1954, when Ken MacAfee and Bob Topp did it at Philadelphia.
• This season, Shepard has three touchdown receptions and Lewis has two. The Giants are the only NFL team to have multiple rookie wide receivers with two or more touchdown catches.
• Lewis is the first Giants player with two touchdown receptions among his first three career catches since tight end Darcy Johnson in 2008. The last NFL players to do it were Houston's Jaelen Strong and Tennessee's Dorial Green-Beckham last season.
• Safeties Landon Collins and Andrew Adams intercepted Carson Wentz passes on Philadelphia's first two possessions. It was the first time the Giants intercepted two passes in a first quarter since Oct. 28, 2012, when Stevie Brown and Corey Webster picked off Tony Romo in a victory in Dallas.
• Shepard, Lewis and Adams are all rookies. This was the first time the Giants had rookies with both touchdown receptions and an interception in the same game since Nov. 14, 1954, when Dick Nolan intercepted a pass and MacAfee and Topp had touchdown receptions – also in a home game vs. the Eagles. It had last happened in the NFL on Jan. 2, 2011, when Tampa Bay's Dezmon Briscoe had a 2-yard touchdown reception, and Larry Asante intercepted a Brees pass in New Orleans.
• The Giants also intercepted Case Keenum passes on the final three Los Angeles Rams possessions in their previous game. They were the second team this season to pick off passes on five consecutive opposing possessions; the Kansas City Chiefs had five straight interceptions vs. the Jets on Sept. 25.
• Collins leads the Giants in tackles (69), sacks (3.0) and interceptions (3). He is the only player in the NFL to lead his team in all three categories this season. No Giants player has led the team in both sacks and interceptions in a full season since sacks became an official statistic in 1982. The last NFL player to do it was Pittsburgh's Lawrence Timmons in 2012 (3 interceptions, 6.0 sacks). This season, Yannick Ngakoue leads the Jacksonville Jaguars in both categories (4.0 sacks, one of three players with one interception).
• The Giants have rushed for less than 80 yards in each of the last five games, the first time that's happened since official rushing records were first kept in 1933.
• On Sunday, the Giants defeated the Eagles despite not scoring a point in the fourth quarter. That had last occurred on Nov. 25, 2012, in a 38-10 victory against Green Bay. The Eagles scored six points in the fourth quarter. The Giants had last won a game in which they were scoreless in the fourth quarter while opponents scored points on Jan. 2, 2011, in a 17-14 victory at Washington.
• The Giants have the best defensive red zone percentage in the NFL. They have only allowed touchdowns on 39.3% of opponent red zone trips through Week 9.
