Eli Manning's next start will mark yet another milestone in his career:

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. –Eli Manning's remarkable starting streak will reach a new plateau Sunday in San Francisco.

The Giants' 14-year quarterback will start his 208th consecutive regular-season game and will tie his brother Peyton for the second-longest consecutive starts streak in NFL history. Peyton Manning started 208 straight games for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-2010.

Eli Manning is not one who dwells on accomplishments or records, which explains why he expressed ambivalence whether sharing the record has any meaning to him.

"I guess yes and no," Manning said. "I'm happy to be out there each and every week with my teammates. That's a goal of mine to stay healthy, to play through injuries, to be accountable and so, like I said, that is important to me to be there for my team and my teammates. But, it's not about breaking a record."

Manning has started every Giants game since Nov. 21, 2004. He has also started 12 postseason games, including two Super Bowls (he was the MVP in each).

Assuming he emerges from the San Francisco game unscathed, Manning will be alone in second place when he starts the Giants' home game against Kansas City on Nov. 19.

Brett Favre holds the NFL record with 297 consecutive starts for Green Bay, the Jets and Minnesota from 1992-2010. It would take Manning about 5½ more seasons to catch Favre.

"He's a good ways away," Manning said. "So, we'll see."

*The Giants' 51-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams was their most one-sided defeat of the two-year Ben McAdoo era, but the coach said no one was reluctant to review the tape when the players returned to work on Tuesday.

"We couldn't wait to get together and watch it," he said. "We have Mondays off, and then you have to sit on it for a day. So you want to get in there Tuesday morning and jump on it right away. Have a chance to set your feelings, set your emotions, aside and jump on the tape. Be honest. Be straightforward. Plain talk. Straight talk. And make sure we get everything fixed and move on."

*It's a good thing the Giants re-signed linebackers Kelvin Sheppard and Deontae Skinner yesterday. Five players from that position group were on the injury report today, including three who did not practice – B.J. Goodson (ankle), Devon Kennard (quad) and Keenan Robinson (quad). Jonathan Casillas, who has missed the last three games with a neck injury, and Calvin Munson (quad) were limited. If everyone is healthy, Goodson, Kennard and Casillas are the Giants' starting linebackers.

Also limited were cornerback Donte Deayon (ankle), offensive lineman Justin Pugh (back), defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (ankle), and defensive ends Olivier Vernon (ankle) and Kerry Wynn (knee).
