HS COACH OF THE WEEK

The Giants Foundation and Gatorade to contribute $2,000 to the football program.

East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Zoran Milich of Montgomery High School (Skillman, NJ) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 7 of the 2023 season. Milich earned his 100th career coaching victory in front of their home crowd on Friday night in a 35-0 victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood. The Cougars are off to the best start in school history, and improved to 8-0 this season with the milestone victory. They will attempt to finish the regular season undefeated when they play the 6-2 Linden Tigers on the road this Friday.

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Milich's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as a 2024 pre-season home game.

In his 24th season at the helm, Zoran Milich is the only head football coach that Montgomery High School has ever known. He started the football program in 2000 from scratch as a freshman & sophomore team that gained varsity status in 2002. Milich also serves as a social studies teacher at the school, and has previously served as their head baseball coach. An alumnus of Somerville High School and Rutgers University, Milich has been very active in supporting the New Jersey high school football community throughout his career, and recently served as president of the New Jersey Football Coaches Association from 2021-2023.

"Being chosen by the New York Giants and Gatorade as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 7 of the 2023 season is an incredible honor that reflects the collective effort of our coaching staff, players, and the entire school community," said Milich. "I am grateful for this recognition, and it serves as a reminder of the limitless potential that can be unlocked through teamwork and perseverance. Thank you to the New York Giants and Gatorade for this humbling accolade."
